Primerica recently received the Metropolitan Partnership in Aging 2008 Business and Aging Award in the large business category.
The Metropolitan Partnership in Aging is a consortium of 10 county‑based aging programs and the Atlanta Regional Commission, Atlanta's area agency on aging.
Maureen Kelly, Business liaison of the aging Services Division of the ARC, said Primerica has been a leading corporate partner of Gwinnett County Senior Services. Employees have delivered more than 1,100 meals to homebound seniors four days a week for 28 years. The staff has also volunteered to spend quality time with the seniors and entertain them at the Norcross Senior Center. The value of the company's volunteer service has exceeded $250,000.
Company grants have led to the purchase of furniture, exercise equipment and electronics to benefit seniors attending one of the three Gwinnett Senior centers, located in Lawrenceville, Buford and Norcross. Primerica also printed 16,000 needed copies of the 2008 Gwinnett County Senior Resource Directory.
Gwinnett County has the second largest population of seniors in the state. Gwinnett Senior Services offers daily activities at their three centers and provides in‑home respite care, home‑delivered meals, homemaking services and limited transportation.
